5th and 6th Graders enjoyed a day at Titus Mountain learning how to ski.  It was a chilly day but a success for everyone!  Thank you to Titus Mountain in Malone for providing excellent instruction and a beautifully maintained location for our "Learn to Ski Day"!

Health and Hygiene Day





Thank you to Leah Worden and her student Matt for coming in to help us with our 5th and 6th "Health and Hygiene" day!  We want to thank CPCH for donating water bottles and hand sanitizer as well as Northwood's Dental in Potsdam for donating dental care products to share with all of our students.  It was an informative day filled with helpful tips on how to prevent illness and maintain good health!

6th graders working on creating a model of DNA using Twizzlers and marshmallows.


Students learned that DNA is made of the 4 base pairs, Cytosine, Guanine, Adenine and Thymine.  The varied combination of these base pairs creates the language that determine an organism's inherited traits.

5th and 6th graders went to OFA to watch a performance about Peter Pan and we stopped at the park for lunch!  
It was a beautiful day!

5/6 Constitution

5th and 6th graders signed a Universal Class Constitution!
The document was created with everyone's input and reflected the process of collaboration and unity!  
We acknowledged three main focus areas for school:  
Be Safe
Be Responsible
Be Respectful
The Golden Rule we all agreed to keep in the forefront of our mind is to:
"Treat people nicely and treat them how you want to be treated!"

5th Grade Character Education

 5th graders shared their slide shows with the Multi-Age 1 & 2 class about respect.  The little ones added to their slide show too.  They shared their thoughts about why respect is important!

Kitchen Chemistry

 6th graders had a visit with Austin Garvin as he discussed how yeast works to make bread.
Austin made the dough from scratch and he reinforced the fact that a fungus can be a really helpful single- celled organism!
It was so yummy!!!!!!!!!!


M & M Lab

 5th grade students learned about the scientific method while experimenting with M & M's.
 Students used results to create graphs and learned how to communicate their findings!

Science Lab

 5th grade students working on a science lab about salinity!
 Students were trying to determine how the layers of water will disperse with warm, cold or salty water!
